STUDY IN TURKEY

In recent years Turkey has been establishing itself as a country welcoming of international students. As a result, international student numbers have more than doubled over the past ten years.  Turkey is beginning to develop a real reputation as an excellent study destination. As far as academic success goes, Turkey doesn’t fall short in that department either, with excellent universities in the Capital, but also dotted around the rest of the country. EDUCATION SYSTEM IN TURKEY

The Council of Higher Education (COHE) supervise the higher education institutions in Turkey. COHE makes policies and do planning for higher education institutions of Turkey. However, universities are independent. Most of universities make their academic calendar themselves. Normally education year starts in September and ends in June every year. The higher education institutions of Turkey offers many study programs in almost every study field  like business, commerce, medicine, humanities, engineering, IT, arts, literature, dentistry, science etc.  Let’s discuss about study programs offer by higher education institutions of Turkey.

ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN TURKEY:

Almost every university of Turkey offer associate’s degree program in different study fields. The students who have completed vocational high school graduation are eligible to take admission in associate’s degree program. Entry or admission is not compulsory for this degree. Normally associate’s degree program consists of 2 years. Students are required to complete 120 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) to take degree.

BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN TURKEY:

Higher education institutions of Turkey offer bachelor’s degree programs in different study fields to local and international students. Normally bachelor’s degree program consists of 4 years. Students are required to complete 240 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) to take degree. However, specialized bachelor’s degree program like medicine, dentistry, pharmacy etc. complete in 6 years or some time in more than 6 years.

GRADUATE / MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMS IN TURKEY:

Master’s degree program is offered by higher education institutions of Turkey in many study fields. Master’s degree program normally consists of 1 to 2 years with 60 to 120 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

POSTGRADUATE (DOCTRAL) PROGRAMS IN TURKEY:

Most of the universities offers doctoral degree program in selected study fields. Duration of postgraduate program depends on course / study field. Normally it consists of 3 years. Students are required to complete 180 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) to complete degree.
